Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with assignment editors, reporters, and producers to shape daily news coverage
• Manage incoming phone calls, emails, and vet information and tips for accuracy
• Communicate essential information to the newsroom promptly
• Log and organize interviews efficiently
• Regularly contact a diverse array of local agencies for news updates
• Shadow assignment editors, with opportunities to independently run the desk in the capacity of an acting assignment editor

Essential Skills

• Proficient and polite communicator
• Comfortable with and knowledgeable about meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Collaborative team player
• Demonstrated experience using social media to gather information
• Bachelor’s Degree in journalism or a related field
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings

Additional Information:

Hiring Salary Range: $22.00 – $25.00 per hour
