Government Job Receptionist at The Bronx District Attorney’s Office where we search for highly qualified individuals with diverse backgrounds who align with the mission of serving the 1.4 million residents of Bronx County. Our goal is to contribute to a safer Bronx by upholding principles of fair justice. Currently, the Child Abuse/Sex Crimes Bureau is seeking a receptionist to provide support on the 5th floor to the Child Abuse/Sex Crimes Bureau (CAS), the Crime Victims Assistance Unit (CVAU), and other members of the Bronx DA staff. Responsibilities include welcoming and assisting visitors, as well as handling phone calls.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervise the reception area by registering individuals, including victims, witnesses, and service personnel (NYPD, EMT, FDNY) for CAS, CVAB, DV, HTU, and promptly informing the relevant parties.
- Maintain precise and comprehensive records of all witnesses in the Bureau Logbook.
- Facilitate connections between visitors and the individuals they’ve come to meet, ensuring effective follow-up when needed.
- Ensure that all individuals who visit are promptly acknowledged and attended to.
- Ensure order and professionalism are upheld in the reception area. Promptly alert supervisors of any issues that may arise.
- Coordinate conference room reservations.
- Facilitate communication with interpreter staff and fulfill ADA requests for interpreters as required.
- Keep essential forms readily available at the front desk.
- Handle incoming calls: Respond to all calls at the front desk and route them to the relevant staff members.
- Gather precise information from callers, including accurate spelling of full names, phone numbers, and reasons for calling.
- Ensure prompt relay of all messages to the intended recipients.
- Act as a backup for answering phone lines for the Bureau Chief and Deputy Bureau Chief.
- Execute any other duties related to the bureau as necessary and assigned.
Qualifications
- A candidate for this position should possess either an Associate degree or a High School diploma/GED along with a minimum of two (2) years of reception experience in a law firm, government agency, or another professional setting.
- The individual should demonstrate the capacity to manage multiple challenging assignments concurrently and exhibit a keen attention to detail. Superior organizational, analytical, writing, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access, is a prerequisite. The candidate must also showcase the ability to resolve conflicts effectively and multitask, emphasizing a strong commitment to detail, deadlines, confidentiality, and organizational priorities.
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus, and the candidate should excel in written and oral communication. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment is crucial, along with familiarity with general court services being preferred.
- Furthermore, excellent customer service skills are a key attribute expected from the ideal candidate.
Minimum Qualifications
